ITMA Showtime June 2011

It's always so awesome to shop the ITMA Showtime textiles show. You get to just swim in a huge variety of fabrics, leathers, and colors! I'm always searching for something new and amazing. And you can always find it! This time I was on a very specific mission as well as looking for the next rawk'n cloth. Here's a couple of definate stand outs...

There was some amazing innovation in fabrics by Liora Manne

It's an amazing combination process of hand made and machine finished. It's called LAMONTAGE. You have to read more about it on their website. Amazing product!

There was a lot more, but these were just some that stopped me in my tracks!

If you've never been to Showtime, it's set in the Market Square building in High Point. The same town that hosts The High Point Furniture Market twice a year. The building is an extension onto a historic furniture factory building that was Tomlinson Chair Manufacturing Co. Very cool building...

The show was really great! I found what I was looking for, and a whole lot more. Leave me some comments and let me know what you think of some of those awesome fabrics.

I met an Eco Rock Star today!

Today was an amazing day at the Furniture Market. The showroom was really busy, and some really amazing things happened. Some cool things to announce down the road.

AND! I got to meet the Redesign Diva herself! Kindle Marie is SO inspiring! Her passion for the preservation of this planet is unrelenting, and so awesome!

She channels all of her energy, talent, and creativity into turning what we all discard on a daily basis into wonderful and beautiful things. I really don't think Kindle can pass by a discarded cardboard box in the road, without thinking about how to turn it into something stylish and useful.

She told me the cutest story today. She hated having to throw away empty potato chip bags. So, she came up with the idea to use them to wrap sandwiches for her son's school lunches. How cool is that?!! She said..."Hey, it's less things going into landfills."

She just really cares, and she does it with awesome style! I highly recommend going to her blog and reading all about her and what she does. I know you'll be inspired too.

Inspiration LOUNGE

In less than two weeks, I will unveil my first signature seating collection in High Point, NC. I'm calling it "LOUNGE" because the inspiration comes from the awesome clubs and lounges I've been to like the swanky spots on The Bund in Shanghai, Hong Kong, Supperclub in Amsterdam, Cologne, and other cities throughout Asia and Europe. The decor and ambiance is always such a major sensory experience. And the seating is always so fashionable, functional, and comfy! You just want to be there! A really cool environment can always provide the most wonderful mood adjustment. And I believe we can have that experience in our homes everyday.

The place where we do most of our living, on the "couch", is truly the heart of our living experience at home. It's where we spend most of our time relaxing, talking, laughing, crying, and sharing the stories of our days. It's where we want to curl up and escape into a great book. It's where we're entertained because the electronics and flatscreen are there. Our comfy window seat to the world outside. And, as we go further into the future, our main computer and online interfaces will be there as well...think about it! I know I want the right seat for that! I think a lot of people do.

This collection is very special to me because after designing behind the scenes for some years now, I get to bring my own ideas and sense of style to the world. And, this is just the beginning! On April 2, 2011, I will unveil two new modular seating designs that are so fun! They're stylish, functional, versatile, and affordable. The fabrics are plush, durable, colorful, yummy, and you're just going to want to get your hands on them!

My mission is to continue to bring fresh and forward looking new solutions for home lounging. To bring "Chill'n" at home to a whole new level!

The Black Apartment

'Cosmo' by Rem Koolhaas

I love the color Black! More than half of my wardrobe is black. In an interior space it becomes so deep and mysterious. It's sexy and decadent and a completely Rock'n design theme!

This is the "Black Apartment" designed for entrepreneur Cindy Gallop. It's a spectacular creation! Her inspiration was the decadent atmosphere of the clubs in Shanghai. Having lived there two years myself, this brings me right back there! The clubs and restaurants on The Bund have the coolest and most cutting edge interior ambiance. So uniquely Shanghai. Amazing!
