Tomorrow is the first day

Tomorrow is the first day for me on the set of "The Stream", a new Dreaming Tree Films movie. The story is set in 1981, and I've spent the last several weeks going back in time. As the set designer, my time has been spent searching for the furniture, cars, and props from a time I remember very well. I was a teenager in the early 80's. Star Wars was all the rage back then, and MTV was dominating the airways. Aqua Net was depleting the Ozone layer, and Swanson TV Dinners were on folding trays in living rooms all over America!

I've done and participated in many types of design projects throughout my career, but I've never worked on a movie set before. I can't describe how excited and nervous I am at the same time. It's going to be really fun! The best part is that my son will be right by my side the whole time. I hired him to be my assistant on this project, and I can't wait to see the expression on his face as he embarks on this adventure with me. I'm expecting to create memories that will last us a lifetime!

I plan to chronicle the whole thing as we go. Tomorrow they're filming some exterior scenes, but it will be the first time I get to see the interiors I will be rolling back to 1981. Then we will be able to head out and do the "Picking" for the interior sets. That's going to be a frantic and fun adventure as well! Stay tuned for more posts coming soon, and wish us luck...here we go!

THE WATER DRAGON 1952 AND 2012

Water has a calming effect on the Dragon's fearless temperament. Water allows the Dragon to re-direct its enthusiasm, and makes him more perceptive of others. These Dragons are better equipped to take a step back to re-evaluate a situation because they understand the art of patience and do not desire the spotlight like other Dragons. I need to blog more!

I need to get back to some serious blogging and writing. Running two businesses has really wiped out my free time. Not to mention my creative energy! Everyday day I get up and attend to my growing design business. Around mid afternoon I have to break it off and get ready to leave for my pizza shop. It's a real left brain right brain routine everyday. In any case, I'm determined to start posting more frequently. In the meantime...please enjoy this musical interlude...

A Sneak Peek!

I'm counting the days until the High Point Furniture Market. I will be leaving in four days, and the excitement and anticipation are building and building. I can't wait to get there and breathe the air of design and innovation!

The photo above is a little sneak peek of my latest seating design being produced by LAZAR. I feel so fortunate to be working with such an amazing client. Their fingers are on the pulse, and they know how to build seating that makes you just want to dive in and melt right into it!

They did an amazing job! I can't wait to unveil it with them in High Point. The official opening is October 22nd. If you're going to the show, you're gonna want to stop and chillax on this new LOUNGE. I hope to see you there :-)

Now Converse has opened a whole new world to all of us! We can now design our own custom pair of Chuck Taylor's. How cool is that!?!? In a matter of minutes, I designed the shoes you see in this post. I then clicked and ordered them. I'm now like a kid waiting for Santa Clause to arrive!
