The LOUNGE is now open at Lazar! Today the Furniture Market kicked off at the World Market Center Las Vegas. If you happen to be there, stop into Lazar located in building B-0612.

 

This is the second time that Lazar will show LOUNGE, and I couldn't be more excited! This modular concept allows your creativity to run wild! In addition, the practicality of each piece being the same sized square allows this plush & comfy seating to fit any space. You can even make a "Pit Group".

On the Set of The Stream - A Dreaming Tree Film

Day 1 was really fun and interesting. It's a lot like you think it will be. Not glamorous at all! There's a lot of set up time...testing time...rehearsal...then take after take after take! It's actually a whole lot of work for everyone involved. But, an absolutely fascinating process.

All of the shooting was done outside today. Some back patio scenes, so I got to do some decorating work, and another scene through a row of bushes! Here's a little peak behind the camera at today's shoot...

When you see the movie you'll see the faces talking behind the bushes. The day for me was all about the house behind the bushes. Today was the first opportunity to see the interiors I will roll back to 1981. The hone is currently for sale so there's not so much contemporary clutter to deal with. Now, I have to go out and "Pick" some older clutter! And furniture and props. Now the real work begins! I have one week to pull it all together...Yikes!!

The goods news is...I had my trusty new assistant Marco (White T-Shirt) with me. We mapped out all the rooms, and we have some real good ideas on how to make it all happen. It was really funny when we first arrived. One of the child actors asked Marco if he was "there to replace him?!" Marco said... "No, I here to help my Dad with the interiors, don't worry". So funny!

The day was long but really a lot of fun! After we scoped out all the interior spaces and made all of our notes, we spent the rest of the afternoon watching more outdoor scenes being shot. Tomorrow the shopping begins! Stay tuned for the roll-up-the-sleeves work coming next.

On the Set of The Stream - A Dreaming Tree Film

Tomorrow is the first day

Tomorrow is the first day for me on the set of "The Stream", a new Dreaming Tree Films movie. The story is set in 1981, and I've spent the last several weeks going back in time. As the set designer, my time has been spent searching for the furniture, cars, and props from a time I remember very well. I was a teenager in the early 80's. Star Wars was all the rage back then, and MTV was dominating the airways. Aqua Net was depleting the Ozone layer, and Swanson TV Dinners were on folding trays in living rooms all over America!

I've done and participated in many types of design projects throughout my career, but I've never worked on a movie set before. I can't describe how excited and nervous I am at the same time. It's going to be really fun! The best part is that my son will be right by my side the whole time. I hired him to be my assistant on this project, and I can't wait to see the expression on his face as he embarks on this adventure with me. I'm expecting to create memories that will last us a lifetime!

 

I plan to chronicle the whole thing as we go. Tomorrow they're filming some exterior scenes, but it will be the first time I get to see the interiors I will be rolling back to 1981. Then we will be able to head out and do the "Picking" for the interior sets. That's going to be a frantic and fun adventure as well! Stay tuned for more posts coming soon, and wish us luck...here we go!

Water has a calming effect on the Dragon's fearless temperament. Water allows the Dragon to re-direct its enthusiasm, and makes him more perceptive of others. I need to get back to some serious blogging and writing. Running two businesses has really wiped out my free time. Not to mention my creative energy! Everyday day I get up and attend to my growing design business. Around mid afternoon I have to break it off and get ready to leave for my pizza shop. It's a real left brain right brain routine everyday. In any case, I'm determined to start posting more frequently. In the meantime...please enjoy this musical interlude...

A Sneak Peek!

I'm counting the days until the High Point Furniture Market. I will be leaving in four days, and the excitement and anticipation are building and building. I can't wait to get there and breathe the air of design and innovation!

The photo above is a little sneak peek of my latest seating design being produced by LAZAR. I feel so fortunate to be working with such an amazing client. Their fingers are on the pulse, and they know how to build seating that makes you just want to dive in and melt right into it!

They did an amazing job! I can't wait to unveil it with them in High Point. The official opening is October 22nd. If you're going to the show, you're gonna want to stop and chillax on this new LOUNGE. I hope to see you there :-)
