Shiner

When you walk through the High Point Market, you always see so many wonderful things for the home. The creativity and innovation go on hallway after hallway, floor after floor. One of the main convergence points is the first floor of the IHFC building at the Commerce Street entrance.

Like so many other industry peeps, I passed through here many times during the show. Usually in a hurry to get to a far hallway on some upper floor. But, every time I flew by, a tiny showroom with really cool lighting fixtures hanging above really cool and interesting wooden furniture pieces kept catching my eye. The name said "Shiner," and I made repeated mental notes to get back there and have a look...

Finally, towards the end of the show I was meeting a good friend of mine named Moon Ho at the little cafe in that same hallway. Moon is an extraordinarily talented person. She spent many years buying and merchandising for Bloomingdale's in Manhattan. She's a very cool person, and a furniture super star!

Ok, now that's it's too late for this to be a short story, let me get into this company called Shiner. I finally went in and met Joe Manus, the owner and visionary behind this very cool company. The deal is...Joe is scouring the planet for waste materials from other manufacturers, and turning them into Eco-Friendly works of Home Art.

Of all the wonderful things I saw at the show. Shiner was one of the most memorable company's for sure. Feast your eyes on these...

Cardboard and wood
Styrofoam and wood

I highly recommend you check this company out. Joe Manus is onto something that's really great. Vision, talent, and environmental conciseness coming together to make awesome pieces of furniture and lighting. Click here to visit his website.

A lot more creativies are thinking about the box instead of just outside the box. Love it.
